“Bring Me An Angel

As she lays on her bed,

She thinks of what lies ahead.

Her eyes wander to the window,

And she sees the tree’s foreboding shadow.

Every night she’s waiting for something that’s diverting,

Something that takes away her constant hurting.

As usual in the dark midnight sky,

Airplanes pass on by.

But today she sees hope, and in aghast,

She stares as a shooting star soars past.

Thinking fast she makes a wish,

And she prays that it will not diminish.

“Bring me an angel,

That can get me out of life’s tangle.”

The author's comments:
I was listening to a song about angels and thinking about how often times life can be so difficult. The point of this piece is to give people hope. This girl is in a helpless situation, but through it all she still has a glowing hope for her future.
