Red Sapphire
Long ago, the wind carried you my way
Setting my world ablaze in your wild fire
Melting away the darkness of those days
Engulfing them in flames of red sapphire.
But, far too soon, the sky poured a rain shower
Testing the strength of your flickering light
Dimming your embers with each passing hour
Until, too weak, you surrendered the fight.
The heat from your flames dance as one
And no warmth compares, not even the sun’s.
