Tranquility of the moment

January 6, 2008
By Brooke Lowin, Sioux Falls, SD

Bright, playful sunshine peeks through leaves
and blossoming flowers...
A scent so enchanting, a sight so superb
The feeling of comfort, the feeling of wonder -
Petals soft as silk against my face...
Grass tickling against my bare feet...
I lay down, overwhelmed with nothing -
for I have no concerns in this sanctuary state of mind.
Yearning for this moment to be forever...
for I have not a better memory.
But I must go on,
I must go forth -
Although for one moment more -
I shall lay here -
without a single care.
