Ode to Summer
Hooray for the Holidays,
the pool parties and time to play.
To the shopping and the new perfume,
and trying to find more closet room.
To the vacations and fun in store,
and the cruises and trips souvenirs galore.
Yippee for the Ice Cream,
the soda pop and hot tub steam.
To the midnight movies and late night snacks,
and racing down to the old Race Trak.
To the forgetting of your bestest friend,
and forgetting where your time was spent.
Hassah for the All-day Spa,
the sleepovers and the sobbing raw.
To the reminiscing and empty pool,
and missing your friends and even school.
To the sipping coffee and reading alone,
and wondering when your friends will be home.
Hurrah for the Pre-Season,
the cook-outs, smiling and having reason.
To the summer camps and small romance,
and blasting the radio just to dance.
To summer dying and school begins,
and loving being home again.
