Wishes and Dreams

I wish I could fly
High above
With wings
Of another’s love.
I dream about swimming
Down below
With scales
Bright as stars all aglow.
My mother says
That wishes
Are useless
Just like joining the militia,
And my father says
That dreaming
Makes people
Start to think about leaving.
But in my opinion
Wishes and
Dreams are
Ways to show love
Because if I ever
Think about leaving
To join the militia
I know in my heart,
That my mother
And my father
Will love me
With whatever choice I make.
