Put on paper
Like the closing lines
In a prolonged verse
These words
Must be chosen carefully
With much decision and thought
They must cap off the year
And all that has been taught
These phrases
Must come
Straight from the heart
Circulating through the body
Only to restart
Afresh, anew, again
Next year
Because these are the last letters
The last words
The last phrases
Of the last poem
Of the last piece held dear
