It was a small moment really,
The boys crowded around,
Luis sat quietly.

“My mom is dead,” he said shyly,
Luis’ eyes watched the ground,
It was a small moment really.

The boys were laughing loudly,
They were making all the sound,
Luis sat quietly.

“He grabbed her hair and threw her quickly,
This is why she has that cut I found,”
It was a small moment really.

She had not died, but I still ask patiently,
Why is this moment so profound?
