An ode to my boots
Cowboy boots made of leather
old
broken
and dusty
from heal to toe
i bear the scars
of barbed wire
and other tools
stained with
time
oil
and wisdom
Once new and stiff
as hard times
now broke in
and soft as easy times
scuffed with age
i bear the scars
my lace torn and withered
part thick and dark
but most thin and white
browned with dirt
from dirt roads and dried mud
every now and then
the glimpse of
light green leafy hay
waiting to be washed
by smooth water
from the nearby creek
i am a cowboys boot
my way of life
through the snow
mud
rain
beneath me the miles
and more to come
of days in the barn
of days in the pen
i have time left
i am a cowboys boots
my way of life
