Your face was jaded
by my own foolish wishes
for a life out of reach.
And your silver tongue slashing
dapper and dashing
promises that you never surmised
for I was the one you despised.
Innocence or love
nor heaven above
could assuage you
from your mortal quest.
A throne I built for you
of ivory and gold
a tower piercing the sky.
Yet nothing would satisfy
your mortal hunger
for revenge unfounded
till your blade
drank the blood
of one who had loved
without question or protest.
Faith shattered
as naivete was splattered
upon your callous floor.
Hands wiped clean
of burdens unseen
an excess omitted
a world refitted
to cloak your inexorable sin.
For you knew quite well
you’d reside in hell
where eternal torture awaited
to avenge your faithless deed.
