One Mistake

December 27, 2007
By Sabrina Alban-Lloyd, Rabat, ZZ

One mistake,
And then another.
The ice is growing thin

Another lapse in concentration,
And you’ve lost all chance to win.

Careful now, watch your step.
There’s quite a way to fall.
Well I guess that’s inevitable
When you attempt a ladder this tall

Time is running short,
Luck is running low.
All that time and hardwork,
And what do you have to show?

Your foot misses a rung ,
And your fingers lose their grip.
The ladder becomes a snake,
And down you start to slip.

Your mind is spinning,
Sweat is forming,
You try to reach a truce.
Pretty soon you’ll figure out.
You can’t bargain with a noose.
