the story of the three who killed the beast
is one that should be told over a feast
for knight of old and wise men's tales of lore,
have never known a story to be more

the Chosen One, the one that He picked first
this my tale follows and life end the worst
for he was told from father to his son,
he could not rest before the beast was done

the Second one, the first's most faithful friend
had heard this prophecy over and over again
but being wise he knew they would need help
and went to find not a human, but an elf

the Third, the elf, a smart and crafty one
did have one goal before he died for his son
for he had had a terrifying dream one night
and had to kill the beast in a great fight

and so the party three did travel south
until they came upon a caverns mouth
four nights and days they rode and did not sleep
'till they came upon a forest much too deep

Boreas blew upon them a wind from the north
and slowly drove the tired trio forth
they left their steeds in cold, unfeeling rain
and left for the woods to begin again

unhappy bush and turning, writhing trees
were growing thick and First did not agree
with Two's request to leave this evil place
and return home with all their waking haste

so further made The Chosen, Two, and Three
'till found they staring at a golden key
the key, it's said, was hung upon a branch
of sycamore the three had found by chance

unto their left they saw a golden gate
who's strengthened bars were lined and filled with hate
"turn back all weak," the gate it seemed to cry
"for death and terror comes to those who're nigh"

they entered slowly One, then Three, then Two
and smelled a smell the smelled of witches brew
the scorched ground that crumbled to the touch
and nasty taste did tell of Satan's hutch

the travelers walked through the wicked lair
and reached a throne room just to find it bare
when suddenly One saw the sparkling eye
of he who had flown high unto the sky

one being the bravest did pull his saber and yell
stand back foul villain he did cry like a bell
I plan to throw you back to where you do dwell
and One struck first and by his sword the demon fell

and as the vicious beast was dying death,
he smote One during his final breath
the First looked down and saw his ashen wound
a hole in heart that took his life too soon

but then it hit him like a frozen dart
killing the demon gave him a holy heart
the twisted turn of fate occurred to Two
who laughed and wept and left the cave a tomb

then Three and Two returned back home to town
where they awarded One with golden crown
but there his body was still in the cave
which One and Two did not have time to save

the story of the three who killed the beast
is one that should be told over a feast
for knight of old and wise men's tales of lore,
have never known a story to be more
