Goodnight Baby Boy

Small, fevered cheek against my lips,
Two story books and a goodnight kiss.
Don't cry, baby boy, at the end of the day.
I will never take my presence away.
When you wake up, give your nightmares to me.
Good dreams are all your closed grey eyes should see.
I'll sing you a lullaby until you cannot hear.
I'll protect you from pain and chase all your fear.
Stay right where you are, don't grow up too fast.
For as long as you can, make your innocence last.
