Dear friend

Dear friend, dear foe, dear anonymous,
I’m delivering a postcard from afar:
Where white surpasses all colors,
And each breath appears smoke from a cigar

Days collide and clash and blur together
Revealing a version of collapsed time
And though I am bewildered by the raw weather
I adore the warmth inside

I speak to you of no mystical land;
This is a familiar time to all
Now shut your eyes, envision, and understand,
The enchantment this time will enthrall

Confused? I expected, but do not feel ashamed
I am sending a postcard from winter,
Or so I’ve foolishly claimed

Thus wherever you currently dwell;
In my winter-moment, or remote
I set free this postcard, charming yet bizarre,
That I so confusingly wrote

Hence, next time you catch a glance
Of a far off brewing cloud
Or maybe fall into a trance
From the falling snow endowed,

Feel exceptionally willing to begin a postcard my way
Because you now know I will understand
At the end of this winter day
