Christmas Song

The leaves have fallen,
Autumn’s past.
In its place a melody
Rings its song at last

Beating drums, they signal red,
Lush as tiny spheres
Sounding from that holly tree,
Giving energy and cheer.

Next the strings of green
Pitch in melodious tune,
Crying out in trees and wreathes
That tell the day comes soon.

Silver woodwinds match the cry
But with a softer sound,
Ringing true in bells and tinsel
Causing orchestra to expound.

After that, gold brass joins in
Declaring triumphant cry.
Its ornaments and ribbon sing
Till all sound fills the sky.

At last it’s filled with innocent voice,
Whiteness of snow and mistletoe,
It softly sings the lyrics of winter,
Giving the season glow.

At times we hear the season’s song,
But mainly drown it out,
Till radio’s tunes and expensive things
Replace the band throughout.

Today, please listen to the song
Of kindness and love ringing true.
So have a happy, merry Christmas
And a happy new year too.
