Christmas Love
With prickly evergreen bristles and the pungent smell of pine
On top, an ethereal angel and a star that shines
The Christmas lights glowing brightly in the night
Like a swarm of fireflies in flight
Schmaltzy homemade ornaments are scattered among the tree
With lavish, sparkly, ornate store bought ones as company
Perfectly wrapped gifts are neatly piled around the base
Each wrapped tightly with a bow and extra tape, just in case
Bright red and white candy canes are strung along the bristles
Complete with all the bells and whistles
Although these things are all very nice,
These materials things just won’t suffice
But faith and trust in the God above,
Will fill all hearts with Christmas joy and love
