When I decorate the Christmas tree this is what I see
Colorful lights that brighten the room
Old candy canes that were never eaten from previous years
Homemade ornaments attached by paperclips
Family portraits from every year
Strings of popcorn and beads filling all of the gaps
A star as the topper that never seems to be straight
Cotton on the ground to resemble the snow I hope we get
Family memories that will never be forgotten
Music playing in the background filling the room with joy
Sadness knowing that in a month I will be taking it all down
School will be starting back up again
and that will really make me frown.
