When I Looked Into My Gingerbread Tea
Have you ever been so in love that it hurts?
Stared at the world
Dared it to burst?
I have
You wouldn’t expect it from me, I suppose
Little me with no paint on her toes
Little me with a ski slope nose
Little me who seems to
But never
Knows
What do I know?
I know that the moon doesn’t shrink in size
What you see with your heart
Is not what you see with your eyes
Sometimes love wants to antagonize
When it does, we agonize
I know that you don’t know who I am
I know I’d like you to know who I am
I know that that is wishful thinking
I know that right now your eyebrows are crinkling
This doesn’t make sense
That’s why it’s in pen
I know I could love
If only
This wasn’t in pen
