I am never at a loss for words.
I hear my voice fall on deaf ears.
I see the blinded masses, sifting direction at a moment’s notice.
I say unto you, ‘be content with such things as ye have[1]’.
I cry for those with no tears left.
I am speechless.

I am surrounded by living voids.
I feel my heartbeats spent unused, and wince at my own greed.
I try to swallow my pride, but find I am too stubborn.
I ‘dream in my waking moments and walk in my sleep[2]’.
I am searching out the truth, however elusive my target may prove.

[1] Hebrews 13:5 (New International Version)
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”

[2] The Scarlet Letter, Chapter 12: ‘The Minister’s Vigil”:
“We men of study, whose heads are in our books, have need to be straitly looked after! We dream in our waking moments, and walk in our sleep.”
