A Broken Soldier

A hurt and broken soldier
Sitting on his cot reading a letter,
As tears run down his face
Eyes blood shot and nose all stuffy
Not bothering to wipe the tears away
Leaving tear stains on the letter
Adding to the ones that were already there
His buddies all see
Not knowing what to say
As they stand and watch the broken soldier
Lose the love of his life
He throws his ring across the tent
And says I can’t believe it’s actually over
