We Need Each Other

By , Denver, CO
Why are you so far away?
Why do you hide your face?
Why do we lock our secrets up?
We all feel pain, we all are cut.
Why do they speak such piercing words?
Is it to hide all of THEIR hurts?
Why does he yell? Why does he scream?
Is it to ease the pain of his broken dreams?
Why is she so afraid to speak?
Is she afraid to show she's weak?
I ask so much of everyone else,
But maybe I should ask myself
Why can't I fall asleep at night?
Why can't I seem to reach the light?
Why can I never seem to say
Today's a new day, I'll be ok
Can you recognize a cry for help?
I'm trying to show you the things I've felt.
Even my scars can't get you to see
All the things that you are doing to me
And the only thing I try to reach
Is joy and peace, my sweet relief.
Why can't you tell? Why can't you see?
I need you and you need me.
