my dragonfly

I saw a dragonfly
And as it flew away
I chased it,
As it’s transparent wings cut through the crisp spring air.
And it flew up,
I longed to follow it
And I did but before I knew it
I was falling from the sky
Tumbling to the ground
And as I hit the ground my skin scared
Scared right in the center of my back
Embedded still in my skins memory
The tears welled in my eyes
And ran down my face
But not for the sharp pain that I felt
Instead that the dragonfly would never remember me.
