"Mommy Hold Me"

Mommy hold me while I cry
The light is fading and I don't know why
I used to be happy when the world was so new
But now I'm tired of this life where people are so cruel

Mommy hold me while I cry
I didn't mean to let him drive
We were halfway down the street
When the car flew out of control
And we went spiralling down the street

So Mommy hold me while I cry
The world is fading and I'm passing by
And God, you know I wish I didn't have to die
Because now I'm leaving you and daddy behind

Mommy hold me one last time
And whispers comforts of a world that passed me by
Mommy, I'll love you and daddy forever more
Please just do me one small favor and let me go...

This is a thought-provoking and sad poem, especially because I am a mommy. I like the repetition of the first line of each stanza ad how it changes for the last stanza, making the very last phrase even more haunting. Keep writing!
