For Bellie, Love April
Small and sick and left alone
You took me into your loving home
You showed me love, and filled me with joy
As you ran around with me and my toy
All those times, you went out the house
I had to play with my stuffed little mouse
Bigger and healthier, but still alone
Only waking up to the sound of the phone
As the car pulls into the driveway,
I wake up and run
To the window to peer out if you are the one
That will walk back into the house and carry me in your arms
To feed me and love me and never show harm
My favorite time was when it was time for bed
I’d crawl upon your chest and lay my head
But now that you’re gone, so far away
I miss you each and everyday
It’s been more than a week and you’re not here
It’s only been 10 days, but it feels like a year
So I’ll just go sleep in your laundry basket and lie in your scent
And dream of you, and try to be content
