I enter a room full of people standing side by side
Lights surrounding us shine brightly in our eyes
Starstruck by people we only see on the internet
Seeming almost unreal
Guitars strum and drums trounce
Music hits me hard like an unexpected bullet through my heart
Beginning to sing in sync with words we’ve grown to know
Wave of arms reaching towards the stage
Swaying back and forth to the beat
Sweat begins to drip down our foreheads towards our cheekbones
And when it’s finally over…
The room becomes empty
Going our separate ways
Entering back into reality
