"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams..." - Eleanor Roosevelt

In a land with long, fresh blades of green
The dirt on the grass remains unseen.
The lake glistens with a cerulean glow
And the rivers around have a graceful flow.

The cows graze in the silent peace.
Mankind's terrible wrath begins to cease.
I lay my head on the vermilion grass;
Now all my anguish has come to pass.

I look the high above and see the sky
A puffy white cloud captures my wandering eye.
It holds me in each golden streak
And frees the souls of the strong and weak.

I hear of water crashing far behind;
I hold each peace within my mind.
The peace of the world appears to me
In the form of the "Land of Serenity."

No danger decides to visit here;
No animal comes with thoughts of fear.
The safety of the land beyond the sea
Eludes the cold hands of agony.

The sun is perfect in this land,
Everything about it is easy to understand.
It is a land of true peace and undying love;
It is a land that exists in Heaven above.

And so we long to reach that land
With great blue skies and golden sand
We long and wait to find a way
To enter that land with peace someday.

The author's comments:
I was very young when I wrote this and I happened to stumble across it. It was only meant to feed my hunger for writing, and it was not that good. I revised some parts and made it more poetic. This poem was meant to help others find their happy place. Mine happens to be in Heaven, where I will meet the people I have lost. This is a poem of hope and reconciliation. I wrote this after my grandfather died.
