Thoughts
She stares toward the bright blue sky,
While resting on her horse’s bare back in the open field.
Studying the rolling hills
And the magnificent shades of green that cover the surface.
Listening to the birds tweet and chirp,
Almost as if they were telling each other a story.
She gently strokes her horse’s mane,
Working out the knots and tangles between each strand.
She gathers the rigid reins in her bare hands
Running her fingers softly over the leather strings,
And takes a deep breath.
She’s tired of thinking about the negatives.
She’s ready to live her life.
She’s ready to go.
She whispers to her young horse who is bursting with energy.
Then sends a slight pressure from her heels to the horses’ belly,
Edging him on,
While she set her focus straight forward.
They take off.
Galloping blissfully through the pasture.
Passing each one of those shades of green,
Acknowledging the bright blue sky,
Listening to the tweets and chirps of the birds.
They are happy.
They are free.
They are living.
