My army hero.

Looking at the picture I am holding in my hands,
I see a gorgeous and amazing young woman,
Wearing the cheesiest smile I have ever seen.
Eighteen years of age -
Some say it is an age of growth and maturity,
But I say that she is too young, too beautiful,
Especially to be shipped off to the Army.
Four foot, eleven and one half inches tall,
“Emphasis on the half,”
She’d always say
When telling people her height.

Everyone worried about her,
When the thought of her leaving entered their minds,
And so did I.
But I know she will be fine,
For she is strong:
Emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
The simple note card she is holding,
With a few simple words,
Means the entire world to me.
It shows my true sister -
I am proud to call her family.

Marjorie,
I can’t wait for the day when you come home,
Where you can be with all of those who love you,
Where you belong, and
Not in some foreign place
Where you always feel alone.
But remember, I am with you,
As God is also.
I love you,
My army hero.
