I awake in bed

Safe and warm

Others awake lost

Nowhere to go

I debate what to wear


Too many choices
Others debate where to find clothes

No options at all
I walk into schools dreading the day

Time too precious for books
Others walk the streets no education at all

A dream long gone
I grab my lunch from my locker

Hoping for PB and J
Others grab, steal, beg for food

Unsure if they’re eating today


I switch on the T.V.
Seeing others in pain
Others live that pain


I turn off the T.V.
I dream in my bed
While others live their nightmare
