My heart is broken
Why did he have to go?
Why did I let him race?
It's not fair! That should be me,
In that box, going under the ground.
It should be me! Thunder Bolt doesn't deserve this!
It's my fault! I was being so stupid!
I thought he was ready to race!
I thought he was tame enough!
I thought luck was on our side!
But no! Luck was gone and it drug horror in!
Thunder Bolt was going too fast when he rounded that turn.
He tripped and snapped his neck.
I was fine, though.
I knelt beside my beloved black Arabian and begged him to get up.
He looked at me with a said expression in his eyes,
Like he was trying to say, "I tried."
Then he closed his eyes and he was dead.
I pounded the track with my fist.
I hugged his neck and wept.
Thunder Bolt was the best horse ever.
Thunder Bolt, you are my friend, I will never forget you.
