Stolen Roses
I thought that you and me could have been something,
But I dreamed, and dreamed.
I stole some roses for your grave,
Left them there, in a world of pain.
Remember when? We first met.
Side by side, arm in arm, we thought opposite.
Petticoats and corsets, blonde hair and dark blue eyes couldn’t fool you.
But the fooling was all me for believing there was something that could be.
My fiery red hair to match my anguish, my pale skin to match yours.
I don’t see her coming around and seeing you anymore.
But, I’m here every dawn, every dusk.
Stolen roses, stolen roses
Petticoats and corsets
Ended your life in a world full of red droplets.
Stolen roses, stolen roses for a life we could have had,
a day-dreaming girl, and a handsome lad.
