You never realize how good times come and go
But all the painful times stick with you till your blood stops to flow
Like the day my dad came home early and fought back a tear
I could see the pain in his eyes as he opened a beer


All he could say was that it was gonna be okay
We kept fightin back the tears saying “No Way, No Way”
But the first time I heard him cry
Was about a month before, after my Paw Paw laid down to die

I had never seen such a man fall down and weep
He was always the one who took the leap
I’ve never seen my dad in such a weaker state
With everything that happened the relationship we had became first rate

But he bounced back stronger than ever
By working two jobs and nobody knew better
His mind is strong but his body is weak
But that never stopped him from accomplishing any feat

He is the strongest person I have ever met
I just wish our friendship would be completely underwater and not just a little wet
Life is putting obstacles in between us and it is keeping us apart
But no matter what he will always stay close to my heart
