The love unseen behind the fear
the one that's real and raw and rare
while i sit and cower there
his hand held high up in the air
time stands still as i wait
for the inevitable blow time ticks away
he laughs and smiles "is this what you wanted?
i don't wanna hurt you, you made me mad and you taunted"
as he's standing above i can't help but stare
ask my self why i love him and why i'm still there
then i look in the crib as my son dreams so sweet
he'll need him one day so i just lay down and sleep
