Night Stalkers
A small agile vampire bat
Flies with instinct, intent.
To feed on thick, scarlet juices
Delicate, thin, veined wings
Take flight into sapphire painted skies
Cool air lifts them to war
Black, liquid, eyes
That resemble ink wells; search the horizon.
Only to rely on sharp accurate sonar.
Ears listen closely
To panicky insect’s wings
They rush…only to slow down the kill
Agile killers
Stalk defenseless prey
Watch as the helpless come near
Eyes of killers swarm
Attack clouds of victims
Bellow squeaks of victory
The battle field now clear of corpses
Ingested, by midnight’s killers
Mother Nature favors the hunter
