Distraction
The computer is a fraction
Of the factors of distraction
The T.V. mesmerizes me
My eyes align with the screen
I know I have obligations
But first I must browse every station
My priorities aren't in this network
Important tasks pushed to the outskirts
Ring! Ring! My friend calls on the other line
If I leave my work now, I'll fall behind
She has important news to say
Forgetfully, I push my textbooks away
Catchy tunes play in the distance
Impulse drives me to stop and listen
Boop! You have one new email!
I carefully check the inbox without fail
Facebook! Myspace! Let's check those
Curiosity leads me below
Swarmed up in technology
Distraction suffocates me
I try and grasp to remain academic standing
But my forgotten assignments take crash landing
Wasted time springs out and buries me
My life in its epitome
