As the summer breeze rolls in
Tussling hair, warming skin
Adding glow to my smile
It has been quite a while
Since I was visited by bliss
Reunited with happiness
The air is still bated
Where it had first waited
Patient and carefree
Reserved for just me
From October to May
Months shadowed in dull gray
My life a sad potion
Of spoiled emotion
Turned fresh with the season
Add a pinch of peace in
And low, I have been freed
From this dark recipe
The cynic, disbeliever
I simply had to leave her
Goodbye darling, places to be
Time to separate you from me
Hello charming and bubbly
Farewell pity, anxiety
And all the pain in the years before
Leave just a footprint at my door
Morality, mortality,
Questions that no longer phase me
No sense in worry or wonder
In this sunny spell I'm under
Call it grace, gift, call it magic
If joy is Heaven, I'm at it
Always a child, never stop growing
Never reach the point of all-knowing
Learning, loving, life is exciting
Keep feeling, keep dreaming...keep fighting.

The author's comments:
This poem, inspired by the carefree nature of summer, is very divergent from something I would normally write. After a tough year, it marks a new state of mind that I have developed as I decided to let go of my uncertainties and inhibitions and simply enjoy life. I want others to find their own meaning in it, because after all, it is meant to be a work of art.
