Open Road

October 25, 2007
By Juli Abene, Woodcliff Lake, NJ

My hair whips around as the window opens
And summer air bursts into the car
I breathe in that freedom

The radio drones on but I'm not interested in it's noise
I'd much rather listen to the wind rushing past me

I look over to him
A content silence hovers around us
A day like today is cheapened by words

I look ahead to the road in front of me
A quiet smile spreads across my face
Anxious for the possibilities to come
