The Artist

June 6, 2010

The brush makes harsh strokes
Striking the cream colored canvas
Telling a story
Of a girl
A life
Showing the pain a heart can feel
And suddenly the truth becomes very real
As the paint begins to drip
Droplets leaving pools on the tile floor
The artist keels over
To paint no more

This poem is about suicide as an art form. It's talking about pain, that causes a strange type of beauty. I like to think that the character in this poem is making a final desperate attempt to be beautiful. Never try to find absolution through pain.
