The Memories Tender...
You say, “I don’t care.” It’s the first sign you do.
It’s at the beginning when you’re finally through,
And the world is all dark, and nothing is true.
But I don’t mind restarting, beginning anew.
Go claim, “I hate this.” The memoirs are tender.
Try something new and you make the path slender.
All existence goes bleak, a gray sky turned blue.
Yet I don’t mind restarting, beginning anew.
You can say, “I’m leaving.” Relax, stay awhile.
Wrap warmly in blankets and burn the old file.
Start acknowledging many and punishing few.
And I don’t mind restarting, beginning anew.
You tell me, “It’s over.” And this is the end.
I say it’s beginning. And all will transcend.
Fade out the memories, for this moment is true.
I don’t mind restarting. I begin anew.
