Kiss me with hands open

October 18, 2007
By Emily Gingold, Naperville, IL

Kiss me with hands open
Under the sky
Or under the roof

Or within the trees
Below the awning
In the rain

Or beneath a quilt
On a park bench
Where they carve their names
And words we'd say in anger

Or under the table
Between courses
After dessert
Eating pasta like cartoon mutts

Kiss me with hands open
In the snow
With the wind
Upon the grass
Between the roses

Or on the tiles
Beside the fridge
Where our pictures hang
By red toy magnets
Memories brought to you
By the letter L

Or above the clouds
Against the mountains
As birds wing
And hearts soar

Kiss me with hands open
Until the thirty-first of June
