"It is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all"

When I was a child I always wanted to go to Disney World
I wanted to ride the rides down low and up high
I wanted to go up, up, up 'til I touched the sky
I wanted to smell the sweet smells of cotton candy and elephant ears
I wanted to go see the people and in the bumper cars, I wanted to steer
I wanted to see Dumbo and hug Mickey Mouse
I wanted to go there so bad, to get out of the house
I wanted to ride in the tea cups, go round and round and round
I wanted to ride the rides that would have my feet hanging off the ground
My mom and dad always said that we'd go there
But we never did, we just stayed here
But if we would have gone what fun it could and would have been
I guess I'll never of what could have been
My hopes were so high to go to that place, it was like an astronaut waiting for lift off to go up to space
We would have had a fun time, a good time, the best in the world
But that was a wish, just a wish I had when I was a little girl
I'm older now and have new bigger wishes
Like to go deep sea diving with the fishes
That's how it is now, that I'm a big girl
I guess I'll never know what it would have been like to go to Disney World

This was an Assignment that we got in my Creative Writing class. Even though i never REALLY got to go to Disney World it was always one of my biggest wishes and hopes. That's what this poem is about.
