The Rain
I stare as the budding leaves
Give way to the pounding rain
The branches waver in the wind
Cutting through the beautiful cascade
The sky is dark and stormy gray
As it bleeds a waterfall of drops
The rooftops push the rain away
The grass welcomes it after the dry and hot
The chilled air creeps between the branches
Like bare bones. brittle and weak
The ridged bark seems to glitter
With the fruit of the sky's unending leak
The pavement shivers with the cold
The fallen droplets group together
The puddle jumps with a new arrival
In this solitary weather
I stare as the bright green buds
Collect and gather all the rain
The branches quiver with the breeze
I smile from the window pane
