Dying Moonlight

October 13, 2007
By Caroline Hammer, Crescent Springs, KY

Her eyes were ever broken,
Her heart was never seen,

She looked towards the dying moon,

The hope,

The beam,

The light,

The stars,

All seemed to be lost,

On this night,
Her eyes were ever broken,
Her heart was never seen,

She asked the heavens,

And the earth,

And even hell,

She asked the angels,

The evening’s spell,

It made no difference,

None would tell,
Her eyes were ever broken,
Her heart was never seen,

And angles never could find,

The moons lost light,

So it did die,

Even then,

She held her head,

Into,

The dark, dark, sky,
Her eyes were ever broken,
Her heart was never seen.
