And I Still Remember You

By
You told me
Right before you died
Not to mourn for but a second

You told me to rejoice
At the 83 years you had
Living on this Earth

You told me that I should not forget you
Because one day
We’re going to see each other again

You told me this
Right before you died
And when you did
I was holding a dead hand
And wondering
How someone so dear
So kind
And so close to me
Could leave so abruptly

I mourned for but a second
Because you left me
Holding your hand, knowing that you
Loved me

I rejoiced for your 83 years
Because while you were living
I loved you and you loved me

I never forgot you
I never forgot your touch
Ever
And I never will
