A Better Place

Looking down seeing the dark jagged rocks and dead trees
Below
Every twig and tiny pebble sticking out
Reminding me
I could have done better
I see every hardship, pain, and fear
But I can’t change it now
What’s done is done
I turn around looking down
The other side of the mountain
Trees are thriving on the blood, sweat and tears
Of my life
Creating happiness in my soul
A snap and my senses crack
I glance and see
People climbing the mountain
Determination etched on their faces
I watch as they struggle
Yet they continue
Because I’ve led them
To a better place.
