Credo Amo
I feel it explode in my chest; it burns
Like the heat building from a newborn flame,
It starts in my core in a place yet discovered
And races over me leaving a chill in its wake.
In that moment, if one tries to think, thoughts
disappear as if drained through a black hole.
Its effects linger as a reminder of its presence,
Like an earthquake the damage is permanent.
Listen. Demanding attention,
My eyes cling to her as she smiles.
For once everything vanishes.
Questions are flying but only one
Truly matters at all; is it honest.
And somewhere unknown, I believe.
