Morbid Desert

October 4, 2007
By Stephanie Sharpe, Manitou Beach, MI

I'm stumbling in the darkness,

my feet catching in the cracks

as my body lurches foward into

the deepest depth of tragedy

that I have ever experienced.

My voice is crying out - pleas in a barren emptiness,

my eyes struggle to recognize

something - anything that will bring

hope and comfort as I travel

alone in the unknown.

This vast hollow void engulfs me,

with every gasping breath I choke on heavy blackness

I'll walk forever in this morbid desert.
