unbelievably flimsy and light

They were unbelievably flimsy and light
Unbelievable that they kill
Unbelievable that they etched those lines
On Mom's face
They broke easily, more easily
Than twigs or paper or pillows even
Like they wanted to die
Resigned to their fate
People think they're so cool
Like fatness was more abhorrent than cancer
Or relief (more like a band-aid on a bullet)
Was more important than family
But they broke so easily
Even they know how wrong it is.
