Here Without You

May 22, 2008
By Jamie Keller, Commack, NY

Many sleepless nights are spent in his sighs
The questioning thoughts, he knows no better
With her image not once leaving his eyes
Now on his feet, he rereads her letter.

Days pass by without any clear ending
So misplaced in this world, this trance, their peak
Still so confused, their life still in pending
Yet nothing contains the answer they seek

Trying to balance on the bridge of time
He fights off the currents leading to her
Living the life that is now in its prime
He forgets the couple that they once were

The future never carved into the stones,
Oh, the sticks and stones that broke his poor bones.
