Bearing Memories

Buried in my skin
Are secrets from my past
Telling where I've been
Forever they will last.

Descriptions of my thoughts
Every tear I've cried
Pictures in my mind
Blissful and beautified.

I don't mention the disastrous
The catastrophic or the shameful
But those are the unforgotten
The ones that i call painful.

None of which are perfect
Some of which are great
Some completely terrifying
But they don't decide my fate.

There when no one else is
To utter life they bring me
All settled in my heart
Are the memories I carry.

What inspired me to write this one was probably when I had a bit of a run in with the police. I hated bearing that memory but I realized it was part of me. That memory wasn't a mistake, it was experience.
