Favorite Quote:
And in that moment I swear we were infinite.

LOU
you wanted attention
you wanted to be popular
you wanted everyone to like you
you wanted to have lots of friends
you wanted a boyfriend
you didn’t care about love
you wanted a kiss
even if it was meaningless
you wanted to be able to tell everyone about it
even though it meant nothing
you knew it wouldn’t last
you wanted to be just like her
you knew it was wrong
you knew you had people that loved you already
but you didn’t care
so you went ahead and left us
we waited, and why?
we knew in our hearts that you wouldn’t come back
we missed you
we thought maybe you missed us
apparently you didn’t
we made plans
you blew them off
we acted like we knew it was for a good reason
we knew it wasn’t
you ignored our calls
didn’t respond to messages
and finally we accepted the fact
that we would never have the old Lou back.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece one night when I was very upset with one of my closest friends who left me when I entered into high school. I was so upset that she had just ditched me again when I had made sure I cleared my weekend to spend time with her. Our friendship has not been fixed and we rarely talk but reading this poem gives me strength.
